Primary Certificate in Ecopsychology Informed Coaching and Counselling Practice

This 2-day programme provides an overview to the theory, research and practice of ecopsychology and its application to the fields of coaching and counselling. It has been designed for practitioners wishing to use ecologically based interventions and techniques within their practice including coaches, counsellors, complementary therapists, positive and coaching psychologists.

Ecopsychology is the study the relationship between people and the natural world. Ecopsychology based research has highlighted how people can benefit from connecting with nature in green and blue spaces such as parks and lakes.

This programme is run in association with our affiliated faculties, International Centre for Ecopsychology. Centre for Stress Management and Centre for Coaching and is approved by the International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP) for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). ISCP members can obtain a 20% discount. (This programme is not suitable practitioners who are already experienced and/or very knowledgeable about ecopsychology.)

CONTENT

This programme will include information about ecopsychology theory, research and practice and consider how a practitioner can apply it to their domain of practice such as coaching or counselling. Climate, environmental and conservation psychology will be defined and discussed in relation to ecopsychology.  The programme will look at tackling eco-anxiety and stress which is increasing due to the existential concerns about climate change and the planet. A positive psychology and cognitive behavioural approach will be highlighted.

Subject to weather conditions and technology, learners may be able to hold a skills practice session outside their property with other learners attending the programme.  This will give learners experience of coaching or counselling outside of the practice room or offices.

Learners are provided with a printed workbook. Also there is access to online resources including articles and videos.

For the purposes of skills training, Learners should be prepared to discuss one problem or issue in small group work. Normal rules of confidentiality apply.

Important notice: Prior to attending the programme, learners need to consider how they maybe able to work outside their property for one or two of the peer training exercises. Although this is not essential, it will provide real life experience of peer coaching when both parties are outdoors. We recommend that all learners have already downloaded the Zoom app onto their phones for the outdoor sessions.
